Hush Extension Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 2026
Your privacy is our absolute priority. This Privacy Policy explains how the Hush Chrome extension ("Hush", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information.
Because Hush is designed as a secure, sandboxed productivity and redaction tool, we have intentionally built it to function entirely locally on your device.
Data Collection and Usage
Hush does not collect, transmit, store, or sell any of your personal data. We do not use analytics scripts, telemetry engines, or remote servers tracking your behavior.
When you use Hush, the extension temporarily interacts with the following local data solely to provide its core functionality:
User Activity: Hush listens to your mouse movements and clicks exclusively to allow you to select DOM elements on the webpage.
Website Content: Hush reads the structure of the HTML element you selected and captures a visual screenshot of that specific bounding box in order to generate the image export.
Zero Data Transmission: Every operation, including CSS styling edits and image compilation, is processed directly within your browser's local memory. The resulting PNG image is saved directly to your local hard drive. None of this visual or behavioral data ever leaves your computer.
Permissions and Sandboxing
Hush adheres to the strict principle of least privilege, relying primarily on the activeTab permission.
Hush has zero background memory footprint. It remains completely dormant and has no access to your browsing session until the exact millisecond you intentionally click the extension icon.
When clicked, Hush is granted temporary, sandboxed access exclusive to the single active tab. As soon as you navigate away or close the tab, all access is immediately revoked.
Hush does not request or possess global domain permissions to passively monitor your browsing across websites.
Third-Party Services
Hush bundles all necessary rendering libraries directly within its local package. It does not fetch, communicate with, or execute any remote code from third-party APIs or external servers.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
If we make meaningful changes to how this extension operates that would affect this privacy guarantee, we will clearly outline the updates within the Chrome Web Store patch notes and update the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy.
